Perhaps, you have been thinking of looking for a new job but you feel uneasy if it’s the correct time to go. Maybe you were already offered a position and are unsure of taking it.

As many young professionals come to experience these scenarios for the first time, it can feel a little overwhelming to decide what is the right choice for you. Here are a few things to keep in mind when deciding if it’s your time to jump into a new career opportunity.

  1. Long-Term Goals

How is your current job helping you achieve your long-term goals? Will taking a new opportunity help you move toward fulfilling these goals? If you feel that your current job does not offer mobility or no longer serves to propel you toward your goals, maybe it’s time to move on.

  1. Learn New Things

Are you bored at work? Are you being stimulated and challenged? If you are no longer content with your daily routine and believe that a new job will help you branch out, learn new skills and maybe even break into a new industry, then maybe it’s time to move on.

  1. Follow Your Gut

You feel okay at work but you come home and job search. Your managers are helpful and your coworkers are pleasant. Still, you feel like you could be doing something else. You are not fully invested in the way you want. That is your gut telling you that maybe you are not using your time and talents to the fullest.

No matter what you decide or where you go, always keep yourself at the forefront of your decisions. Do not make decisions based on what other people expect of you. Most of all, trust that when you take chances in your career, it will all work out in the end.
